It’s a hair thing UK was started in 2006 by our Managing Director James Curd, specialising in the distribution of quality hair and beauty products.

James has many years experience of sales in the hair and beauty industry and has worked for many international companies like Goldwell hair cosmetics, Wahl Clippers UK and HOT UK where he was national account manager for the much acclaimed historical brand “ Wigo “. Here James grew the small product portfolio from 2 products to a massive range of over 30. After a taste of this success James had little doubt that the way forward was to set up his own business, and scissors were most definitely his poison, after all there will always be a demand for them! James says “I always wanted to run my own business within the hair industry; it’s fascinating and a most enjoyable industry to be in. I saw a great opportunity so, metaphorically speaking, `grabbed the bull by the horns`. Starting with just one brand Matakki our superb design and marketing team and I have now created and established two new brands, Toya and Kaisaku - all three are exceptional products”.

At present we have 5 agent/distributors working with us selling direct into salons and are always on the look out for more – accordingly please feel free to contact us. We have gained valuable contacts within the college industry and are the proud suppliers to Chesterfield and Clowne hair and Beauty College with our Matakki range for the student college kits.

Our range covers all pockets with Kaisaku our latest brand starting at £19.99, then we have Matakki our elite range of hand crafted Japanese scissors starting at £69.95.
